This workshop has been cancelled.

This workshop will be presented by Mica Bloom, a past summer workshop presenter.

Reading Strategies: In the morning we will dive into a variety of strategies to aid reading.  We will model reading passages using strategies such as content schema, visualization, inferences, questioning, connecting and predicting, amongst others. We will discuss the role of active reading with specific annotation goals and explore various resources for this. We will conclude with a discussion about book choices, independent reading, and fiction versus non-fiction.
Writing Strategies: Get ready to write in this hands-on and engaging session exploring various writing strategies.  The session will be grounded in argument and text-based writing using an array of graphic organizers as well as a discussion on finding the right acronym for your class. We will also discuss the value of mentor texts, one pagers, sketch notes as well as using visual literacy in writing.

All workshops have a cost, unless otherwise indicated. No one will be turned down due to cost. If you have any issues making a payment in full, please email Judy Oppenheim.

A cholov yisroel lunch will be served with each workshop.
