This workshop will be presented by Howard Rothbort, a past presenter. The morning session will focus on reviewing skills required for the CRQs (Constructive Response Questions) and Enduring Issues essays for the newly revised Regents exam. The revised exam will be administered for the first time in June 2019. We will review the recently released “Understanding the CRQ” by NYSED, as well as new sample Enduring Issues essay. In addition, we will review scoring rubrics for the new questions that were updated in 2018. Specifically, we will examine how the Regents exam will assess students’ knowledge of primary sources for audience, purpose, bias, point of view and reliability.
In the afternoon session, we will focus on utilizing political cartoons as a form of “visual literacy”. We will focus on strategies teachers can employ to analyze cartoons with their students. We will also demonstrate how teachers can use various features in PowerPoint to analyze cartoons in class. (A working knowledge of PowerPoint would be helpful).

All workshops have a cost, unless otherwise indicated. No one will be turned down due to cost. If you have any issues making a payment in full, please email Judy Oppenheim.

A cholov yisroel lunch will be served with each workshop.
