This workshop is open to General Studies teachers in New York City only.

A two-part iCount Method® math workshop will be presented. The first half of the workshop will focus on Foundations of Math, Ten Keys for Math with Ease, Incorporating Math Throughout the Day in the Classroom, Math Games, and Number Sense. The second half of the workshop will focus on How We Can Build Students' Number Sense, Why Number Sense is Important, Building Fact Fluency: Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication/ Division, Place Value, Addition with Regrouping, Subtraction with Regrouping, and How to Plan Math Lessons That Will Maximize the Students’ Time and Bring Them Up To Par. Focus will be placed on comprehension-based strategies that explain the why and how of mathematics at every level from basic to advanced, one step at a time. This systematic iCount Method®workshop teaches math comprehension from the concrete to the semi-concrete to the abstract, using real-life scenarios, manipulatives, storytelling, logic and fun. This workshop will enable students to see the usefulness of math in real-life situations as they grasp the complex concepts in the core curriculum. It will also enable teachers to teach concepts in a concrete way so that the school’s low performing students will succeed in math.
