With the approach of the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the modern state of Israel, we invite you to join with your colleagues to begin reimagining Israel education for early childhood! We often celebrate Israel in our classrooms during Yom Ha'Atzmaut, but Israel is so much more than a holiday to be introduced once a year. As the historic birthplace and homeland of the Jewish people, Israel is a cornerstone of Jewish identity. It is also today's largest and most diverse Jewish community, where the complexities of Jewish and democratic values play out each day. Join us for this conference to share and reflect on your own relationship with Israel and to explore the question: How might we begin to create the foundation of a lasting connection to Israel for our youngest learners?

About the Keynote Speaker

Robbie Gringras is a British-born Israeli living in the Galilee, working as Creative Director of MAKOM, the Israel Education Lab of the Jewish Agency, and creating theater. Since emigrating to Israel he has taught at Israel's main theater schools, directed several plays, and his solo shows have performed throughout Israel, UK, Australia, USA, Canada, and Mexico in English, Hebrew, and Spanish. With MAKOM he trains educators to empower young Jews in weaving honest complex connections to Israel, as well as blogging on and running the MAKOM website. Robbie coined the phrase "Hugging and Wrestling with Israel", and drives the 4HQ System of Israel Education. He's married to Dorit, a magical stained-glass artist, and they have two kids.
